Cytology: Diagnostic Principles and Clinical Correlates
Published in Hardcover by W B Saunders (15 January, 1996)
Average review score:

Readable guide to cytopathologyAs a first-year pathology resident, I just started learning the complexities of cytopathology. I asked a number of pathologists to give me recommendations for a starter textbook. Cibas and Ducatman's book was mentioned more than once. Once I got a chance to use the book, I realized that it lived up to the hype! It is a readable introductory textbook that dispenses with obscure jargon and presents cytopathology in an understandable and organized manner. I highly recommend this text to any pathology resident, cytotechnologist, or other professional looking for a coherent introduction to cytopathology.

A Different Drummer: The Story of E. J. Banfield, the Beachcomber of Dunk Island
Published in Hardcover by University of Queensland Press (April, 1984)
Average review score:

Dreamy real life story of escape from the chains of conventiBanfield a Newspaper man and his wife escape conventional lifestyle and settle Beautiful Dunk Island off the north Queensland coast (Australia). This is a book for those who work and live in the urban jungle, It leads the imagination to delight in the simple and uncomplicated existence we all at times long for, but haven't the time to discover. Their abode (Dunk Island) is now a millionaire's playground. However, the cottage and surrounds that Banfield established are preserved as part of a National Park. This book is a good read. I am sure all that read it will be tempted to visit the area it portrays. I know I did. It was and is a wonderful tropical paradise.

Differential and Integral Calculus
Published in Hardcover by Chelsea Pub Co (June, 2001)
Average review score:

The meaning of analysisThis book would more correctly be described as a book on analysis, because of the completeness of its proofs. It assumes you know just arithmetic of natural numbers, integers, rational, real and complex numbers-that is to say, just how to sum, multiply, subtract and divide. Edmund Landau wrote a masterpiece, because nothing is left without proof. You will not find a single step missing. From arithmetic to all the concepts of calculus, like differentiation, integration, infinite series and sequences, this book contains the mathematics that most mathematicians should know presented in a perfect way. It is not easy reading, though. Landau strives to reach the perfect axiomatic presentation, so like Euclid's "Elements" the book is the clear and beautiful presentation of a doctrine. I dare say that no book in analysis approaches Euclid's ideal of presentation better than Landau's, never in the past and never in the future. What you will find in this book is, in its best appearance, truth, that will not change even in a thousand years.

Dignity and Dying: A Christian Appraisal
Published in Paperback by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. (August, 1996)
Average review score:

Not a Single Point of ViewThis book is unusual. Containing 17 essays by different authors, it is not focused entirely on the aspects of death and religion.
Instead it includes personal view points and experiences that provide multidimensional pictures of death, dying, faith, and humanity. This is not a technical manual or a religious manual. It is a very interesting helpful book that includes personal feelings and experiences to help clarify the topics presented.

Disarming Matter
Published in Paperback by Owl Pr (1999)
Average review score:

ExtraordinaryDisarming Matter does just that, in an elegant and befuddling manner. This book is a joy to get tweaked on. It is full of unexpected leaps of gorgeous weirdness. A true antidote to the stale nature of pop literature, and especially pop poetry. Take this book on a picnic to the park, to the zoo, to the cannery, to the dahlia garden- and watch it bloom in comparison!

Early New England Gravestone Rubbings
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (June, 1981)
Average review score:

fascinating book! This book is not only about gravestone rubbings, but also the early stonecarvers who had the skills to decorate these gravestones. I have repeatedly taken it out of my art school's library because I am fascinated with the different carvings on the gravestones. These rubbings of the carvings include faces of angels, portraits of the deceased, urns, willow trees, and other decorative motifs. It may seem morbid to enjoy such a book, yet I find it completely fascinating book!
